Karen and Her Good Intentions
Mar 12, 2019
I named my inner voice Karen* after I saw this blog post several years ago.
#2: I LOVE T-Rex dinosaurs!
#3: I feel like my inner voice is like that - even when her intentions are good, she's got a way of destroying things.
Our brains are like that. Our inner voices are there to protect us. Keep us safe from doing or saying something that could potentially get us booted from the tribe.
But in this day and age, we don't really need our Karens quite as much as we used to. We aren't running from bears on a regular basis. (at least, MOST of us aren't - you do you, boo!)
So Karen gets bored. She decides to warn us when we're going out of our comfort zone, trying something new, or allowing ourselves to be vulnerable.
She'll start squawking all kinds of bullshit in your ear. Sometimes you gotta tell her, "Thanks for your concern, Karen. But I'm doing this anyway."
And then Go. Do. The. Damn. Thing!
*I do not intend to hurt or offend any human Karens with this post. Nothin' but love for ya, ladies!
